Just to keep you all up to date

It’s been a while since I wrote a whasblog and since there seems to have been an influx of blogs this weekend I thought I’d add my two pennies worth of news. The last couple of weeks have been a bit strange at home. My Grandpa had an operation on the 3rd to fix a problem with his leg, and my Mum has been staying with my Grandma at their house so she can look after her and go into hospital every day to visit my Grandpa. Since my brother has started his term again at boarding school and my sister was in South Africa until earlier this week, it was just me and my Dad at home for a while. With John off to university as well it has been quite quiet here! The whole family is back together today though – Henry comes home from school for the weekends, Alice is back from Africa and Mum is home to visit us for the day before going back for another week. My Grandpa gets out of hospital some time this week and she wants to go back to check that everything will be ok with him at home. My Grandma pretty much relies on him to do everything for her, and since he now needs a lot of support to be able to walk (during the operation the surgeons managed to fracture his bone and his bad leg is also now three inches shorter than his good leg), things are going to be very difficult for a while.
Anyway, moving on to happier things! My friend Amy who I think you’ve all met now came over on Friday evening to stay until today, so we had a good catch up. Yesterday we went on a sponsored walk that my family take part in every year, which was quite good fun. It’s run by a colleague of my Mum’s who had a girls’ orphanage named after her in India after randomly meeting one of the men in charge and making a donation towards it (or something like that), and she holds this event to raise money for it each year. We made lots of money on our cake stall after finishing the walk, and all in all it was a very successful day.
Amy has gone home now and I’m not doing much for the rest of the day except spending time with my Mum. I still have a lot of stuff to buy for university – I feel like I’m not at all ready to be heading off on my own, and yet some of you are already gone! Keep in touch guys, I want to know how you all cope in your first couple of weeks so that I can be assured I’ll be ok too!
I’m sorry about your Grandpa, I hope he gets better fairly quickly. The leg height difference sounds like it could be quite troublesome. My Grandpop has special shoes for the same reason :U
Glad you had a good walk and weekend with Amy, well done with the fund-raising. Were there as many cakes as last year? :bigo:
I am also sorry to hear about your grandpa and grandma
xx
Well done on the sponsored walk though and don’t worry about your first week at uni; most of it just comes down to being yourself and making loads of decisions about what to do with your time. Good luck for when you go!!!
