Update from yesterday
Oct 3rd, 2007 by Soph
I woke up this morning with my cold even worse than yesterday and a nasty blocked nose, so I wasn’t in the best spirits for my chamber choir audition. The vocal exercises were actually ok, but my voice sounded all croaky and nasal on the sight-singing and I mucked it up a bit the first time around (after I sang it once he let me sing it again and that time I did it right). So basically I thought I’d done a pretty pants job, but I had a phone call from someone from the Music Centre today saying that they want me to sing Alto 1, hooray! This will be a bit of a change as I’ve always sung Soprano before, but it’ll be fun to try out a different singing range for me. The first rehearsal is tomorrow, I can’t wait to find out what we’re going to be singing! Hopefully it’ll be a good way to meet some new people, too. I’m also going to join the wind orchestra and symphonic brass ensemble, both of which are unauditioned, and next Wednesday I have my audition for Symphony Orchestra. I’m not too nervous about that, as I’ve now seen how informal and short the auditions are – also I spoke to two women in the music office today and it sounds like they’re quite short on French Horns so hopefully I’ll get a place whether they think I’m good or not!
That’s about all the extra news I have since yesterday, except that I also went and spoke to a woman in the library today about my placement as a Library Assistant as part of this work scheme Warwick have for low-income peeps. I start my first shift next week, and it sounds like I’ll mostly be putting books back on the shelves and working at the service desk. Fun fun fun. :] Take care all, ciao.
Sounds like you’ve got plenty of things going on to keep you well and truly occupied for the next year! Congratulations with the choir and good luck for the audition next week as well. :music:
Way to go Soph!! I’m so pleased for you! All the best for the orchestra auditions.
