And now for the news…

Malheureusement, the ‘near misses’ I’ve experienced whilst driving turned into a ‘near hit’ on Monday…I was in the car park at the doctors and panicked when I realised I had very little space when I was parking and then I totally lost concentration and scraped the rear bumper of the car next to me. Which was horrible…It would have been ok if I’d have just hit a wall or something but I hate the thought of damaging somebody else’s property. Anyway, my car is being re-painted (not entirely, obviously) by a friend of Damian’s who does it for free and the other lady is going to get an estimate to have hers done. It’s an expense I could have done without and shouldn’t have really as the space was plently big enough but I just lost my nerve a bit. Thankfully she was sensible and kind enough not to claim on my insurance which would have really hurt my bank balance when I came to renew my premium.
I have my first appointment to get my Hep B vaccination. For those of you who don’t know, I will hopefully be starting my training to be a dental nurse in the new year. But before I do any ‘official’ chair side nursing (even though I have done the odd bits and bobs already) I have to have the Hep B jab as it is transmitted through saliva and, as you can imagine, we deal with quite a lot of that here. The only problem is the cost. Everyone had given me the impression that is was free, or at least heavily subsidised for people like me. The doctor told me that they “usually cater for people in ‘sister’ professions” and everyone at work expected me to get it for free. Yet when I spoke to reception about it, they want me to spend £75.00 pounds for the privilege which is ridiculous for someone who is working for the NHS. My boss told me he would sort it out for me anyway which is good. The scariest part I think is the blood test at the end to make sure the level of antibodies is high enough to show immunity.
Apart from that there is not much to report. My French friend Lise who was supposed to be coming over this week is now postponing her trip until Easter. And I’m looking forward to an engagement party and ‘Aspects of Love’ at the Wycombe Swan in January.
Alesha for the win in Strictly!
xx
Ouch, well at least it was just a minor scratch and you were lucky enough not to knock into a car owned by a really horrible person. :]
Shame you have to pay up so much for the vaccination, too – I told my mum about it and she was very surprised that you’re having to pay since nurses/student nurses are supposed to get stuff like that for free. I asked if there was any way you could get it free in her clinic and she said unfortunately you’d have to pay for it unless you were willing to pretend you’ve been having dodgy sex. I said you probably wouldn’t want to do that. :U
Looking forward to seeing you again soon! x
Hehe well thanks for the offer but I’ll think I’ll pass on that one. My boss will sort it out for me. Daril’s pretty well known round here and he said he’d ring them and query the issue.
Owning a car is also really expensive even when you don’t bump into things- tax and MOT are both due in January- huzzah!
Looking forward to Jan 4th. Btw if anyone needs a lift and I a) know where you live and b) you live fairly close to me or Soph, I would be happy to oblige both ways if necessary.
