Spring Holidays
May 5th, 2009 by rgolbourn
Hello everybody.
Hope you have been enjoying the good weather we’ve been having of late. Are you all on hoildays yet?
I went away last week for a few days with my sister Adele to Derbyshire. It was absolutely beautiful. The hotel we stayed in was down a small winding lane, set back off the road and the grounds were stunning. We stayed in one of only 8 bedrooms and on one of the nights we were the only guests there! But it was by no means undesirable as, for weddings (their main source of income), they are fully booked up for two years!! The food was lovely and I particularly liked the restaurant as the ceiling had been painted midnight blue and had little white lights covering it..not quite up to Hogwarts standards but still beautiful!!
We visited Chatsworth (I think Mr Darcy was away from home that day, which was a shame!) which lived up to expectation. Again, we spent most of the time in the (very extensive) grounds as the weather was perfect and even climbed up the mountain side to get to an old hunting lodge.
Also had a nice relaxing facial on Friday when I came home, to round my holiday off. Though at one point I swear she put porridge on my face! And the back massage I had was also lovely.
I spent Saturday with my friends from Berkhamstead and we had a lovely pub lunch at the Alford Arms. I had goats cheese risotto with garlic and mushrooms- delish! After a busy Sunday, we had a good Bank Holiday Monday which involved a good country walk (though we did get a little soggy) and slow roasted pork (I’m beginning to think my life revolves around food!!).
Shame I had to come back to work today really!
P.S: Do any of you watch The Apprentice?
As close to Hogwarts as you get I suppose.
Porridge on yer fayce! Gooey.
Sounds like an excellent break you’ve had!
As fer me, its all hands to the pumps for the work at the moment. 8 days until hand-in, and there’s an exhibition to organise on top of it, which we’re not even being assessed for! So holidays look quite far away at the moment.
I do indeed watch the Apprentice when I can =]
The programme REALLY ANNOYS me generally though because most of them are such bastards! I like seeing the annoying people get fired. Don’t get me started.
Hi Robyn, I’m glad you had a fun time out there. I’ve only been to Derbyshire once on an unforgettable school trip. it was indeed beautiful, rugged and brave (the village of Eyam was, anyway.), pretty much Mr. Darcy, although he wasn’t necessarily brave. Meh.
I’m swamped with revision at the minute; I have four exams next week and I’m beginning to get freaked by one of them.
No, I don;t watch the apprentice that often and when I do, I’d like to slap Alan Sugar at times. And some of the contestants.
Hope to see you at some point during the summer; it’d be good to catch up properly, or go somewhere.
ttfn xx
