Long time no blog
May 25th, 2010 by John
Hello everyone! Golly I have been awfully quiet this year, sorry about that!
I had a splendid trip to Arran again back in January, there’s photos on Facebook. And then after an exciting bout of family illness problems I had my work cut out for me with university this semester!
Still, my major project has come along fairly nicely:
SEE – Sneak Preview from John Kingsnorth on Vimeo.
Crikey, its strange to think I’ve handed in my last ever photography project…
And now we’re in the mad rush of Degree Show preparations! And they overlap! Which is exciting and hectic and daft.
So IF anyone wants to seeee the shows, which maybe we could do a nice gathering around, it is in Cambridge from the 3rd – 11th June. I am most free on the 5/6/7th for that one.
The show is also in LONDON and is called ‘Seeing the Ordinary’ (I designed the website for the show heeeere > http://www.seeingtheordinary.co.uk Woot woot.) We’re on there from the 11th – 14th June, and I’m invigilating at some point, so maybe we could meet up and the end of that and do a food, or something. Not sure on the exact date yet though.
OTHERWISE I think a meeting-up with punting is long overdue, so come to Cambridge! Provided I am unemployed, any time from the 17th June to the end of the month I will be doing very little =]
I have been doing a little bit of job-hunting, but its hampered by the craziness of exhibition preparation at the moment! There may be a slight chance of buggering off to Zambia for a while (madness?). We’ll see!
Hope everyone is well and fine and I look forward to hearing from you all again.
p.s. Robyn, your wedding photos look splendid, must be fairly chuffed with them =]
Edit: Oh yes, I went to Stockholm in February too. It was bloody cold. And we walked over the lakes. Because they had, like, ice on them, omg. It was cool, photos on facebook :]
I wouldn’t worry – I’ve been even quieter :] your major project looks incredibubble – congrats on having everything handed in! I can’t believe how many people are finishing/have already finished. a very scary thought. the last three years have gone far too quickly for my liking.
I think my mummy would quite like to come down with me to see your london degree show so we should be there at some point :] do you know which day / when abouts you’ll be there?
punting sounds fun! I’m around on weekends so just say when :]
ooh zambia ey? when and to do what? I’m doing a bit of crazy travelling this summer too… ^^
Not sure about the dates yet, send me a facebook message and I will remember to get back to you as soon as I know!
By saying you’re around on weekends does that mean you have a JOB or something? And I wouldn’t be Zambia-ing any time soon. Where are you off to this summertime?
yeap – nothing very glamorous, I’m working at a school in penn cleaning and washing up in the kitchen and such. but a job’s a job ey
and I get school holidays so I’m off this week for half term, wahey ^^
should be a laff!
I’m off to peru mid-august time to go and do a conservation project in the amazon. playing with monkeys, etc.
omgwtfPeru? Madness. How was such an adventure organised? You are quite the adventurous lady! And whilst the job may not be glamergoose it does indeed get some money in!
yeah ^^ I booked it through a gap year type website. velly exciting!
Nice to hear from you John. It does sound like you’ve been rushed off your feet a bit! Still, makes the time go quickly (btw, middle of June already?!) Yes, your project looks awesome! Glad you approve of the photos
. We’re really chuffed with them.
Sorry I missed the shows, the video is ogglicious!
whoa! thats fascinating John…seems I have underestimated the depths and intriigue of photography…I have got a new compact camera though lol!
Can I just say, the shots of you in the pinstripe suit remind me of Doctor Who (David Tennant’s), which is pretty cool
