summer times
Jul 5th, 2010 by Soph
hey guys :] thought I’d do a little blog since I haven’t written on here in months. how is everyone? are all the uni people back yet? I can’t believe like half of our group are now university graduates. what a scary thought!
what are everyone’s plans for summer? I think we should have some kind of a gathering, so write on here to say when you’re free. :]
I’m working weekdays at the mo as a cleaner at a school in penn, which is as fun as it sounds. howeverrr, in two weeks the school breaks up for summer so no more cleaning for soph. :] then I’ll be going up to warwick to sing at the graduation ceremonies (rosie, this means you get to hear us chamber choir lot singing the ‘warwick fanfare’ – it’s horrendous and has fake latin in it, so enjoy that!), then I’m free for a week again, then I’m going caravanning in wales with a group of uni friends, thennnn I’m free again, and thennnn I’m going to peruuuuu!
which is VERY exciting. :]
I’m going over there for a month (catching three separate planes to get there, which is the part I’m most nervous about currently :S), to do conservation work in the amazon forest. should be pretty great. :] I also get to do a little nip over to machu picchu while I’m there, which is equally exciting. so, I guess I’ll do a blog about that when I get back! I’m sure there will be lots to say and squeal about. like monkeys and parrots and pumas and things.
in the meantime, I’m keeping myself busy reading about a bazillion books for next year, and doing this online course in Teaching English as a Foreign Language (ie. TEFL). I’m hoping to be able to use the qualification I get from that to go and teach abroad after uni. fingers crossed. :]
so, that’s all my news really! let’s do summery things like picnics and barbeques. discuss.
over and out x
Hi Soph! Thanks for the blog..everyone’s been a bit quiet recently! Hope the graduation ceremonies go well. And Peru!! What an adventure! Make sure you take lots of photos
Weekends are pretty busy for me (well life in general tbh!) but given plenty of notice will try to fit in with everyone else.
So you want to go back to France after uni? Keep us posted!
well I’m thinking of going a bit further than france next time :] I want to work in an overseas department of france for a year to keep my french up, and after that I’m hoping to move onto other places so I can try out different languages and cultures. this is my vague plan! :]
Hey Soph, good to hear from you! Tim and Toby were both asking where evreyone is and what they’re up to, especially Tim, him being isolated in London…
I’m nearing the end of my placement- got around ten days left and there are severe changes oing on in the NHS so everyones a bit down unfortunately.
I should be okay to meet up most days after the 10th August, although I’m thinking about finding work over summer maybe.
France sounds fun, I hope you ace the online course!
I’m fairly sure Tim only gets back around late August-early Sept time, but I’ll try get him to blog or something.
Gatherings would be fun-can I add flying lanterns to the list?
Take care xxx
hey tammy! :] coolies, well I’m around for the week of the 9th but then I go to peru on the 14th and won’t be back ’til late september…so I guess it might be a little while before I see anyone, unless people are around in that week before I leave :S
also – YES to flying lanterns!!
hope you enjoy the rest of your placement, though sorry to hear that people are down in the dumps…
hopefully see you soon =]
