28/29th December (2009…)

As long as people have the time then we can do what we did last time and have folks arrive after lunch whenever suits and then staying overnight to leave the next morning as required/desired.

If people are lacking in time then we can make it one day, arriving late morning and staying until the evening.

Hopefully the snow will have gone away by then =]

Let me know how that date suits.

I suggest continuing the timely tradition of video gaming, computering and pizza-ing with another man-gathering over the holidays, if folks are agreeable and available.

‘Twill most likely be at my house again, with people arriving some time in the afternoon and leaving the next morning, if that suits.

After Christmas would probably be best, so if you could reply here or drop me an e-mail letting me know when you would be available/any dates you definitely can’t make then I will try to pick a time that suits everyone.

Tim – if you could bring any 360/PS3 controllers with you then we can crack out the 4-player games. Left 4 Dead 2 springs to mind, but I’m sure there are others.

Food will most likely be provided by Dominos again, and adult beverages will be provided by you lot and whatever’s left in my cabinet after Christmas.

Also, if anyone can beg/borrow/steal a set of Rock Band/Guitar Hero drums, then we can all look highly dignified whilst playing in a littleplasticinstrument band together. Shotgun not vocals.

I hope everyone has a great Christmas, and I look forward to seeing as many of you as possible over the holidays.

Due to my badmin this is rather late notice, but would anyone like to meet up in London this Wednesday? So far interested parties include Soph, John, Jemima and myself, but it would be nice to get more of you along

Perhaps a cautionary note is on order, though. John and myself (you too, Jemima, come to think of it) will be trying our hardest to look like enthusiastic tourists and taking photos of everything. With that said, bring your own cameras and we can have an epic photo adventure! It will be fun, honest. Other highlights will include a nice (and reasonably priced) Japanesey restaurant and pollution.

So, it will be Wednesday the 16th, aiming to be in London late morning. John has already gone back to Cambridge, so we’ll be meeting him in London, but for anybody who’s still about we can meet at Amersham/Chesham station and train our way in together.

I hope some of you can come, and that you’re all enjoying the end of summer.

This concludes the public service announcement.

It will no doubt be much the same as last time – gaming, laptopping and pizza eating. Although we now won’t have the use of Tim’s xbox controllers… Hopefully another meeting can be organised later on in the holidays when we will all be available, perhaps combined with a day’s airsofting. Once again it shall be held at my house.

As for now, some time in the next 2 weeks looks good, so if you could both comment with when you’ll be free that would be spiffing. It may or may not involve staying overnight, I suppose that depends on when people are free

I’m back at home having finished my first year at uni. Seems like most of you lot haven’t come home yet, but when we’re all back some get-togethers must be arranged! I thought a BBQ might be nice, but I’m not sure who would be up to hosting one for lotses of people. If I ended up being the host then people would probably have to bring some disposable BBQs as ours is about as old as time itself. And considerably rustier.

And for my male readers, I suggest another manly gaming/pizza/guitar hero/computery get-together. Shotgun not hosting this time Volunteers are welcome. Someone with a half decent network. John, I’m looking at you…

Uni has been going well enough. Some of my modules are very interesting, whereas others I’d rather peel myself than study them any further. Thankfully I won’t be doing those ones next year, so the potato peeler can go back in the draw.  Next year I can look forward to cheery modules such as Nuclear War and Conflict since the 1800s. After doing International Relations for a while, you start to realise the depressingly small role of peace in studying War and Peace (not the book…). On the plus side, several of my lecturers have funny accents and one has a face like an anteater

So now I’m faced with 4 months at home before going back to uni D: Not quite sure I’m going to fill such a vast amount of time. At the moment I’m redecorating my parent’s house, which will certainly take a fair while. As such I’m covered in paint as I type this Theeeeen in early August I’m going off to Spain for a couple of weeks with Jemima, which should be nice And sunburntacular. After that I suppose a job is in order.

Not sure what else there is to say, so I shall sign off before I end up going down Ramble Avenue.

My camping trip with Jemima was also very enjoyable. Unfortunately, we had about 3 days of bright sunshine and clear skies, which turned my skin a nice crispy red. Fortunately, such miserable weather soon gave way to rain, clouds and wind. Unfortunately, this meant our tents got a bit flooded and we had to leave a day early. Fortunately, this meant we could pick up our A level results ourselves Unfortunately, half of the stuff I took with me still smells of damp.

Our camp site was right next to a beach, which was rather spiffy. Much spashing around in the sea ensued. Shortly followed by an equal amount of limping in pain over the rocks to get out of the sea. Luckily for us, there was a nice soft beach of rocks, shells, stones and sharp sand to walk on once we were out.

Further goodness comes in the form of me having passed my driving test today 4 minors, so not too shabby. Although it would have been nice to have had no minors again. Ah well, I’m not terribly sure I care now that I’ve passed. Muahaha.

Yet further goodness comes in the form of my laptop (the one that I shall be sat in front of for the next 3 years at university) arriving this morning. About bloody time, too, having ordered on the 24th of July ¬_¬ John, meanwhile, orders on the 6th(ish) of August and has it arrive in a couple of days… Same laptop…same company…lucky sod Anyway, I am most pleased with it. I am hoping it shall serve me well in the years to come at university, forming the foundation of my social life (MSN, whasblog, general internettyness), the brains behind my degree (wikipedia) and the black hole into which my free (and not-so-free) time shall disappear (gameses).

Sadly I’m rather bored, despite all this, as Jemima has run off to America for 3 weeks.  Ideas of how to entertain oneself on the back of a postcard please, folks.

That’s about all I can think of to ramble on about.  Peace out, homies.

On the bright side, August is shaping up nicely My birthday on the 9th (about blimmin’ time…) and then off camping with Jemima the day after. So the birthday shall bring torches (NovaTac EDC 120P! Joy!) and the camping shall provide plenty of dark nights to make use of them. Will I take all 24? Only time will tell.

Aha, I have forgotified one of the things I have actually done since the exams. Failed a driving test! Go me. Failed with one major…and not a single minor. You’d find more minors at the pension office than on that driving test report. Better luck next time, me.
