Well again, it may have been half a year or so, but another ‘The Project’ image (resonating dramatic chord) has been completed. This one was for Mima, which she has named and applied a bit of verse to as well, hoorah! So to get to the point:

These violent delights have violent ends
And in their triumph die, like fire and powder,
Which as they kiss consume.

R&J, II.v.9-11?

There we are then, that’s three of you provided with images and I’m getting a bit more adventurous, who knows what’ll be next.

In other news my new camera is fairly lovely. It does a remarkable impression of a machine gun when taking photos. Hopefully there’ll be plenty of occasion to use it over the summer when we all meet up lots of times. Although its a busy summer for some of us I understand. I am off to the Isle of Man for a couple of weeks in about three weeks time, but after that I’m just scouting around for photography work.

On that note, does anyone know of anyone who wants some photography done? Weddings, engagements (looking in Robyn’s direction with all her engaged relatives and colleagues am I right in thinking?), events, dinners, anything like that. I’d be glad to do some work ^^

Hope everyone is well, and good luck with the exams those of you who are now well stuck into them.

Firstly thank you Sophie for the muchly fun party of dinner! ‘Twas great to see y’all again.

Secondly after a few months of silence the next chapter of The Project has been finished. So here is Robyn’s image  . I hope you like it, if you find me online some time (or tell me otherwise) I can send you the proper big version of the image. A slightly larger one can also be found here. I present, Lakes. A slightly different aesthetic when compared to Tim’s image.

I spouted a lot of mumbo jumbo about The Project in the last blog about it, most of which I’m disregarding for now. So Robyn if you want to describe this image or add some kind of background or story to it then feel free, but don’t feel forced  Anyway, moving on…

This evening I’ve started looking at possible accommodation for next year. It’s a lot harder when you’re not given a printed list of choices with prices beside them. I don’t even properly know who I’m going to be staying with yet! But at the moment I have my heart set on this lovely little place. It’s a while from Cambridge, but I’m sure I can persuade whoever gets lumped with living with me that it’s the best option. Have a look see. Of course you’ll all be invited to the… tower warming.

And finally, with a little more near-sightedness, there are plans to meet up and go out for a drink in a grotty (or not so grotty if people would prefer) establishment after the prize-giving. All those in favour, keep your evening free  Hope you’re all having fun back at university / work. See you all before the week is out I hope ^^

Bai.

P.S. Some photos from the recent party of dinner are all up in the gallery. Enjoy.

ladies and gentlemen, students and employees, it is time for another bout of poor spelling and grammar, courtesy of me. perhaps it is just my university, perhaps just my course, but whereas everyone seems to be either rushing to meet deadlines with assignments, or revising frantically for exams, my end of term is quite relaxed. I had one exam last week, and one assignment in for this friday, which isn’t even a proper assignment, but a ‘home problem’ as our lecturer tadeusz stolarski puts it. unfortunately, over that all looms the large pile of work on the desk next to me, consisting of somewhere in the region of eight assignemtns in for january and february time. christmas break should be fun.

despite the dark shadow that looms over my ‘relaxing’ break from university, this week is still fairly relaxing. myself, aswell as the entire of the school of engineering and design have the week off to conduct our multidisciplinary project. this entails being put into groups with other students from such other aspects as design, electrical and communications engineering and designing and building something they tell us to. wit hthe majority of my group being aerospace engineering students we were assigned the task, as you may now guess from the title, of buildign a rocket. alas, ’tis not a real rocket, just a model, and we have to load it up with sensors etc and blast it off into the un-depths of the sky. however, we were told our group couldn’t strap four engines to it for safety reasons, i mean honestly, they’re only solid fuel rockets, and another excuse was that we were too close to heathrow. what rubbish! anyway, we launch on thursday, should be interesting, if not haphazard, especially with this weather. with two cameras and an altimeter, all should hopefully go well.

being a student, well i don’t know about the rest of you but i have certainly fallen into a rather sporadic eating schedule, i have just eaten dinner. so i decided to make a sandwich, but a rather interesting and unusual sandwich. most of you would probably repulse at the idea, a cheese sandwich. but not just any cheese sandwich. i thought i’d be different. i went ot the fridge, got out my ingredients, bread, butter, emmental cheese, and put togther what i thought would be a regular sandwich. after making it i had an inkling that something was missing. so i opened up my cupboard and scanned the shelves. then i saw it, a jar. i unscrewed the lid, dipped in a knife and spread contents over one side of my bread. thats right folks, a cheese and honey sandwich. it was goooooooooood. most of you will go on to not try my idea, just like the bacon and milkybar (taken from a pub menu!!) or the raspberries and burger sauce. those who don’t are missing out.

well, there we go, another pointless, poorly splet rambling from the darkest depths of my mind. hope you were terrified… i mean enjoyed. have a good break all.

forgot two things: 1) fencing rocks

2) tammy and i went to see tinsleworm on the 30th nov., at wembley arena. (for those who don’t know it was bill baileys show). hilarious.

 toodle pip

It’s time to reveal, once and for all, The Project. How dramatic. If only it has a real name. I shall get to the point. My idea a while back was this: To create a piece of science fiction space scenery for each person here on the Whasblog, a present for each of you! I’m also aiming to make the images represent the person I am making them for, or say something about them, reflect their interests etc. Easier said than done…

All the planets / nebula / intergalactic paraphernalia I create are based in the same (yet to be named) galaxy. Once I’ve made your image it will have a generic name (e.g. Sol III for a planet or an identifier like M16 for nebulae etc.), it’s up to you to give it a real name! And it’s also up to you to come up with a piece of background writing about the image. Whether it’s just a description or a short piece of science fiction based on the scene, that is up to you. Once you’ve done it, I’ll update the image. By the end of this we’ll have a whole galaxy mapped out, both visually and contextually. I’ll create a galactic map to conclude the project, with everything positioned and included. God may have created the Earth in six days, let’s see if we can create a galaxy in 16 months (well, however long it takes).

However my motives are not all selfless, I’d quite like to improve my digital art skills before heading off to uni / whilst I’m there. But hopefully I’ll be creating things that you’ll all enjoy! You will all received the full resolution versions of your scenes, unspoilt by copyright mumbo jumbo. I only ask that you don’t pass it around too much in case it gets nicked. But at the end of the metaphorical day, it’s your image so do as you please. Perhaps an image title for this project is in order. But for now, I shall unveil the first piece.

Hoorah! For Tim. Don’t #@!?% with him, he can destroy planets, it seems. Or is this his planet getting destroyed? If so, deary me. In the end it’s his job to tell the story after all. A larger version can be viewed over in my dA gallery, and eventually I’ll put it up in The Whasblog Gallery as well. So, 1 down more to go.

Edit: I’ve already made a couple of changes to this… I just can’t be bothered to go and update ALL of the derivative images at the moment. Sorry.

Status of other images:

A little table thing showing how it’s all panning out. If you’re not listed it’s because I don’t have a clue what to do yet…

Tim’s – Done
Rosie’s – Ideas coming together
Adam’s – Ideas formulating
Mima’s – Ideas formulating
Pete’s – Ideas form.. hmn.. maybe..

Well done with results everyone.
